Antonia Labia Hardres- WilliamsAntonia is the director of Casa Labia and Granddaughter of Prince Labia. Antonia has brought and continues to bring so much to the Casa Labia business. With the incredibly hard work of revitalising and refurbishing her Grandfather’s former house now out of the way, Antonia currently busies herself with ensuring that the decor remains alive and fresh, whilst also spearheading the direction of the gallery, sourcing artworks, providing direction for the cafe and being a huge support to the entire Casa Labia team. We see a lot less of Antonia these days as she is busy with her most important (and successful) job to date – that of mother to little Amelie |
Gareth Hardres-WilliamsGareth is the Casa Labia general manager and brings with him an enormous wealth of knowledge from a wide diversity of work experience. His wine making qualification has helped educate the planting of the Casa Labia vineyard and the olive grove. |
Emma VaughanEmma is our Events Manager who moonlights as receptionist, administrator, webmaster, graphic designer, bunting-maker, set designer as well as a P.A. to the GM, Director or anyone else who needs organising. Emma holds a qualification in Events and Conference Management and has gathered a wealth of international experience in these industries. When not doing all of the above, Emma somehow finds the energy to renovate and decorate her new house in the Muizenberg village and has committed to learning to surf at her local break. Occasionally Emma collapses in front of the television to enjoy an episode or two of Gavin & Stacey or a re-run of “The Sound of Music”. |
Jacky FolleyJacky is our very talented Cultural Co-ordinator and a most capable manager of our Cultural Programme. Jacky is responsible for arranging the concerts, lectures, workshops and many other interesting cultural activities that we host here at Casa Labia. It will be a sad day for us when Jacky realises her dream and retires to Italy. Leading up to that day, Jacky likes to prepare herself for Europe watching her favourite movie “French Kiss”. |
Clyford ZifungoClyford is the Casa Labia estate manager and general handyman and has played an integral role in the rejuvenation of the property – both inside the house and in the garden. Clyford is a mechanic by training, but has a vast knowledge of almost everything required to keep Casa Labia running smoothly. When not tending to his vegetables, Clyford enjoys cycling and is a key member of our charity cycling team. |
Ruth MuyamboRuth, Clyford’s wife, takes great pride in ensuring that the house is kept gorgeously clean and tidy. In her home country of Zimbabwe, Ruth studied and worked as a receptionist for a motor spares company before joining us at Casa Labia. When not working, Ruth enjoys reading romantic novels, watching T.V. as well as doing a spot of site-seeing. She also enjoys Hip Hop and R’nB music. |
Prisca BandaePrisca is yet another of the housekeeping ladies who work so hard at keeping the house looking so lovely. Before joining us at Casa Labia, Prisca worked in a hair salon and one day hopes to return to the hair trade and to eventually own her own hairdressing salon. Prisca enjoys reading novels and listening to some good Gospel music. |
Judy BadenhorstJudy is our cafe’s food consultant and has been involved with Casa Labia Café from the very beginning and has been part of the creation of what the Casa Labia Café is today. Judy helped us set up the kitchen from scratch, source our staff and has planned all our menus from the outset. We as the owners and management of Casa Labia are thrilled to have Judy as part of our project and are acutely aware of how her involvement has been absolutely vital to the success we have enjoyed thus far. Judy remains a firm fixture with the Casa Labia Café and we look forward to enjoying many more years of happy creating together. |
Tania MillTania is our fabulous cafe manager – the captain of our ship! A south peninsula girl born and bred, Tania has vast experience in the hospitality trade having managed a good few restaurants prior to joining us here at Casa Labia. Before entering the hospitality industry, Tania studied at UCT, majoring in politics and psychology. Tania does a superb job of managing our cafe and sets a terrific example for others to follow, whilst also motivating our team and bringing out the best in everyone. Tania enjoys reading as well spending time outdoors with her gorgeous little girl Morgan and friends and family. If she can squeeze it in with her busy schedule Tania also enjoys watching Sandra Bullock movies and CSI |
Kate MarekKate is our new executive chef and comes to us with a wealth of experience both locally and abroad, having worked for Aldo Zilli in London and set up and ran her own restaurant in Australia’s culinary capital of Melbourne. Kate is helping to train up all the staff and get things all ship shape through the busy times and hopefully a lot longer. When not at Casa Labia, Kate is hard at work setting up a new business and we wait with watering mouths for the launch. |
Pesch NjikelanaPesch is the heart and soul of the Casa Labia kitchen who loves to cook and share her knowledge and experience with her colleagues. Pesch is responsible for making Judy’s creations a reality. One day she hopes to open her own business and loves the advice offered by Oprah and Tyra Banks. Pesch enjoys Hip Hop and R’nB and loves the movie Blood Diamond. |
Jabulani MadyaJabulani hails from Zimbabwe and is studying Civil Engineering at UCT. He enjoys a good game of chess and watching movies. Once Jabs is done with his degree he is keen to do some work in Dubai! When he is not running off his feet off as a waiter on the cafe floor, Jabs likes to kick back and relax with a good series on T.V |
Kevin MmakoKevin hails from Pretoria and is an older brother to a harem of 5 younger sisters. He is another of our super waiting staff, who when not looking after our guests is studying to become a doctor.
