Café
Located in the former reception area as one enters the house, the intimate 50-seater Casa Labia Café exudes charm, warmth and authenticity. To complement its grand surroundings, the design of the café is effortlessly simple with shades of bone-white and cream dominating the otherwise soft-pastel palette. An abundance of fresh roses and multicoloured Murano-inspired glassware are delightfully combined with Wonki Ware crockery, damask linen and recycled Ngwenya glassware from Swaziland – all adding their own allure to this unique new space.
Exquisitely delivered by Capetonian foodista Judy Badenhorst, the menu’s inspiration is the artful combination of the Labia family’s Italian heritage with their passion for South Africa. Another culinary triumph for Badenhorst, the menu and daily specials feature a seamless blend of two cultures, Italian classics made unique to the environment by using local and proudly South African ingredients.
Comments Antonia Labia, “Our cafe, although small and simple, strives to provide an authentic and real food experience. We source only the best and freshest ingredients. We hand craft our menu weekly, changing with the seasons to provide options that are varied and interesting, so that regulars are never bored and always challenged.”
With gorgeous views of the surrounding fynbos-covered mountains through its expansive glass doors, Casa Labia Café spills out onto a charming Italian-style courtyard complete with bougainvillea-covered arches and colourfully tiled coves. In warmer weather tables will extend to the immaculately landscaped garden which features a spectacular water fountain set against an uninterrupted panorama of the Falsebay coastline.
Casa Labia Café is open to the public from Tuesday- Thursday between 10am and 16pm and Friday to Sunday between 9am to 16pm and makes an ideal venue for brunch, lunch, elegant afternoon tea or a simple cup of very good coffee.
Every Saturday and Sunday between 12h00 and 15h00 we are joined by the talented pianist, Jean-Paul Grimaldi-Lasserre. His repertoire is diverse in various kind of music from classical to popular modern works. Interpretations of compositions brings classical styles to a wide spectrum of people for easy listening, regardless of their usual taste in music.
